Laser-Drawn Glazes
Using a precision laser as a drawing tool, layering line work and colour between firings.

Laser-Drawn Glazes investigates a process of applying glaze, engraving a design and firing the surface. Repeating the sequence introduces the possibility of layered line work and colour, drawing on the logic of multi-pass plotter drawings.
The laser is only one part of the process. Glaze movement during firing can soften or merge a carefully drawn line, so the experiments bring pattern design, glaze choice and firing together.
The wider research also considers engraving, texture and surface treatment, including possible applications in ceramic lighting.
